BANSHEE is a durational and promenade performance, it exists to immerse its audience in the world of the liminal. Where the spaces that hang in between moments represent leaps and acts of faith. Where trust, chaos, dirt and magick are one and the same. Primordial surrender; the transcendental times in life where our instincts take over, and where aspects of our nature that we’re afraid to look at can emerge, are the spaces that this performance shines a light into. Rejoicing in truth, taboo, comedy, sex, witchcraft and the liminal and temporary nature of our human flesh homes.
The piece is focused on, serves as an offering to and is inspired by the Goddess, Badb. Badb is a Goddess of war and change. And a Banshee. She represents chaos and transition, the spaces where we have left but not yet arrived. The performance explores the relevance of the energy of Badb in a modern context. Exploring themes of birth, death and rebirth and ultimately, how the linear and modern world is at odds with the liminal, seasons and cyclical nature of life and our own innate capabilities.

Clare Simpson is a Glasgow based artist, musician, witch and somantic sound artist. She has been committed to exploring the depths of her own edges through her raw, authentic expression since she was wee. Drawing effervescent inspiration from dark forests, the occult, masochism and deep hearted romance, at the core of everything she creates is sound and sensory perception/overwhelm. She weaves melody and torch song with noise, drone and field recordings. Marrying this with primitive, asana inspired movement, humour and poetry, her quest is to bring the liminal to life and to shine a heart shaped torched in the darkest of places.
